A Forgotten Forest

an ode to the many neglected Christmas trees of Presidio Heights, San Francisco, documented on b&w film on a Fujifilm Smart Shot II .

there is a forgotten forest that scatters our city streets

evidence of some sort of celebration

a strange joy lingers at the sight

as we push our way into a new year

we push them out of homes, making room for empty space

these trees have beheld the memories, witnesses of our merriment

they are sponges now

soaking slowly

our passing stories in their branches

a forgotten forest plopped into community curated piles

let us go into the woods once more and find that everlasting hope of Christmas. A hope that never was a tree or time of year, but an evergreen eternity of growth and wonder.
