Timing is everything.

The Greek word kairos, is the notion of "timing" and “moment” within a historical, cultural and social context. It is translated literally as an “opportunity or a specific moment that passes”. Kiaros moments take place in mundane everyday life. Many of my poems are written on the spot, in the moment on my typewriter. The poem is a literary collage of the imagery, people and moment that surrounds me. Kairos moments are liminal moments of change. The artist acts as a barometer for society during times of transformation. The artist only needs to be present and hold a blank page and simple materials to record, document and make sense of the historical moment, whether local or global in scale.
